Nocturnal Animals 🦉🦇🐭

As part of our ‘Starry Night’ topic, we have been learning about how some animals are awake at night time. We have learnt about these animals through stories, videos, props and photographs. The first story we read is called, ‘Whatever Next.’ We talked about how Baby Bear flew to the moon at night time and met an owl on the journey. We enjoyed retelling this story with our friends using props.

Our current key text is called, ‘Owl Babies.’ We have read the story and added the key vocabulary to our pyramid. The words on the bottom are words we already know, the middle words are new words and the top word is our superstar word! We are remembering these words well and some of us are even using them in our play. 

We have also been telling the story with our friends using props. Lots of us are using the new vocabulary when storytelling!

This week, we have read, ‘Night Monkey, Day Monkey’ to review our learning on nocturnal animals. We have then sorted toy animals into ‘night animals’ and ‘day animals.’
