People Who Help Us - Police Officers ๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍♀️๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍♂️๐Ÿš”๐Ÿšจ

This half term, our topic is ‘People Who Help Us.’ During our first week, we have been learning about police officers and how they keep us safe. We have been talking about how their job includes keeping the roads safe and clear and stopping people from driving too fast. Lots of us knew that police officers stop people from stealing and some people go to prison. We enjoyed reading stories about police officers and watching some videos of the sirens and flashing lights in an emergency! We learnt lots of new vocabulary, including: walkie-talkie, siren, police officer, uniform and badge.

We then looked at police cars in more detail and talked about how the colours are in a pattern. We made our own police cars using tissue paper and tried our best to stick the squares in the right order.

We also looked at a police officer’s uniform and compared it to our school uniform. We talked about the colour of their uniform and equipment they carry, and noticed they have a badge like our school uniform. We enjoyed dressing up in the police costumes and creating our own stories with peers.
